Despite differences between God and ourselves, God yearns to communicate with us. In scores of Old and New Testament parables, God used plants to illustrate his nature, spiritual truths about his kingdom, and how he wants us to live. Yet, interpreting Bible parables illustrated by plants isn't easy. Twenty-first century society is far removed from the Bible's original audience. Because westernized individuals live in an industrial and technology-driven society, often contact with plants grown for food is second- or third-hand at best. We don't have an "aha" moment where we understand a parable by its comparison to a plant, e.g., a fig tree.

Pack your lunch and join us for a 12 week study on the Book of Acts

Luke wrote the book of Acts as a testament to the explosive spread of the gospel and the rapid growth of the church after Christ's ascension. Beginning with the outpouring of the Holy Spirit on Pentecost when the church was born, he shows how Christ empowered His followers with divine authority to preach the gospel to all nations. Luke also shows how, even in the midst of persecution and opposition, the early believers were able to rely on God's spirit for direction and continue with the work He had given them to do. God showed His infinite power regardless of the circumstances, just as He continues to do today.

Dates: Wednesdays at noon starting January 10, 2018

Location: B106

Cost: $7

11111Wednesday Night Bible StudyMax Lucado's "Grace: More Than We Deserve"

When asked, do you believe in grace, who could say no? This book asks a deeper question. How have you been changed by grace? Shaped by grace? Strengthened by grace? Emboldened by grace? Snatched by the nape of your neck and shaken by grace? Grace is the voice that calls us to change and then gives us the power to pull it off.

Dates: Wednesdays beginning January 10, 2018, 7:00 - 8:30 pm

Location: B106

Cost: $7
