This is the fourth year we are heading out of the building to BE THE CHURCH as a church family and serve our community!
FUMC Pearland members will come together for worship at 8:30 am before we head out to serve as the hands and feet of Christ in our community and surrounding areas. T-shirts will be available in the FLC Lobby at 8:00 am.
Redeemer members will meet at the Redeemer campus for worship at 9:00 am and then go to their respective projects to serve as well. T-shirts will be available before and after worship.
Please read the project descriptions below and choose where you would like to serve. Once you have made your decision, please click the REGISTER HERE link to go to the form. Please register each adult separately, even if you are going to the same project. Don't forget to list your t-shirt size and if you would like to stay for brunch (brunch will be served at the Pearland campus).

Builders Without Borders of Texas – Food Ministry
Builders Without Borders of Texas is a non-profit organization that is dedicated to providing housing, education, and medical services to disadvantaged people locally and around the world. Builders Without Borders of Texas is located at 5393 Wilson Rd. in Alvin, TX. Last year, BWBT delivered 30,000 pounds of rice and beans to those in need, and we helped package 4,000 of those pounds last year at Be The Church day. Volunteers will package 5,000 pounds of bulk rice and beans into quart-size bags for distribution at the BWBT facility in Alvin. Please allot about 2 hours for this project. Limit 50 individuals; family-friendly; no experience required.
Builders Without Borders of Texas – Eye Glass Ministry
Once a month, BWBT goes into elementary schools in the poorest areas of Mexico to do vision screenings and give eye glasses to children. Last year, they supplied 1,000 pairs of eye glasses to those who would not have had the gift of vision otherwise. Volunteers will clean, sort, label, and package eye glasses. This project will take place at the BWBT facility in Alvin. Please allot about 2 hours for this project. Limit 10 individuals; family-friendly; no experience required.
Builders Without Borders of Texas – Construction
In addition to their new warehouse, they are building a bunker/retreat facility. They currently need help with construction. This project will take place at the BWBT facility in Alvin. Please allot several hours. Limit 15 individuals (not appropriate for small children).
Builders Without Borders of Texas – Landscaping, planting, and gardening
BWBT needs help with the landscaping of their facility. This project will take place at the BWBT facility in Alvin. Please allot several hours. This is a family-friendly project and open to as many people as can come.
CJ Harris Elementary – Garden Construction
CJ Harris Elementary is located at 2314 Schleider Dr. in Pearland, and have students who are in grades Kindergarten-4th. We have been long-time supporters of CJ Harris from partnering as long-term mentors to providing goodie bags during STAAR Testing. Volunteers will revamp and reconstruct the garden area that is nestled in a nook behind the school, including pouring concrete. Volunteers should bring shovels, spades, and wheelbarrows. Please allot 5 hours for this project. Limit 10 individuals (not appropriate for small children). Project Leader: David Baker
City of Pearland Urban Forestry – Planting Tree Saplings
We will partner with The City of Pearland Urban Forester to plant tree saplings around the trails behind the Recycle Center. Volunteers should bring their own shovels and other tools to help with the planting. Please allot two hours for this project. Limit 30 individuals; family-friendly; no experience required. Forgotten Angels - Painting Residential/Dayhab Facility
Forgotten Angels is a non-profit organization providing exceptional care and support to individuals living with developmental, intellectual, and physical disabilities. Residential care is provided in group homes as well as through a day habilitation program. Some of their services include caring for the residents, employment assistance, and keeping them engaged in the community and to help him/her reach their full potential. Volunteers will paint the entire exterior of the building. Please allot several hours for this project (there may be an opportunity for a follow-up service day). Limit 25 individuals; tall ladders are needed for this project. Experience is helpful though not required. Older children (7th grade and up) and adults only please. Keep Pearland Beautiful – Trash Pick Up/Adopt a Highway
The mission of Keep Pearland Beautiful is to empower Pearland Citizens to take responsibility of their environment so that we can all live in a clean and beautiful city. We have adopted a stretch of road on Plum St. from 35 to Old Alvin. Volunteers will pick up litter/trash on the road. Please allot 1 hour for this project. Limit 20 individuals; no experience necessary; this is a family-friendly project, but it does include a lot of walking along side the busy road.
Kidz Harbor – Cleaning, Landscaping, and BBQ Cook-out PROJECT IS FULL
Kidz Harbor is a Foster Care facility dedicated to providing a safe harbor for children caught in the storms of life such as neglect and/or abuse. Their mission is to provide the children with a safe, clean and nurturing environment. Volunteers will power-wash, clean, work in the garden, and cook/grill burgers and hot dogs for the residents. Please allot three hours. Limit 25; no experience needed; family-friendly. Project Leader: Kirk Johnson
Christian Helping Hands – Spruce up the grounds
CHH is a volunteer driven local food pantry that also provides emergency assistance for various needs. We have been long-time partners with CHH providing funding and countless hours of volunteer work. Volunteers will paint the fence surrounding the dumpster and will spruce up the area. Please allot two to three hours for this project. Limit 8; no experience needed; family-friendly. Project Leader: Tom Pool
Hope Village – Clean & Wash Transport Buses inside/out
The mission of Hope Village is to provide superior yet affordable residential and support services to those with intellectual, physical, or developmental disabilities. The campus includes residential homes on site, day programs, work skill activities, and a café where residents serve customers. Please allot two to three hours for this project; Limit 12; family-friendly.
Loaves and Fishes – Cook and Serve at the Soup Kitchen
Loaves and Fishes is the Soup Kitchen Ministry of Magnificat House, a non-profit in Houston that serves the needs of transients and the houseless. Volunteers will prepare and serve a meal. Please allot four to five hours for this project. Limit 20 individuals; older children (7th grade and up) and adults only please. Project leaders: Judy Poston and Betty Hill
Gift of Music in the Community –
The FUMC Pearland choir and children’s choir will provide music to several assisted living facilities throughout our community.
- Windsong Village Convalescent Center - the Children’s choir will go to Windsong to provide gifts of music and flowers to the residents of Windsong Village. Please allot one hour for this project. In addition to the children’s choir, we need small children (4th grade and younger), accompanied by their parent/guardian, to hand out flowers and crafts.
- Autumn Leaves – an assisted living memory care facility in Pearland. Our adult choir will be there from 10:30-11am to share their gift of music to the residents of Autumn Leaves.
- Brookdale Senior Living Solutions - Our adult choir will be at Brookdale Assisted Living Facility in Pearland from 11:30am-12 to share their gift of music with the residents.
Random Acts of Kindness
Pair up or go as a group to add a blessing to someone's day! Visit the washateria and give a laundry basket filled with detergent, softener, and a roll of quarters to someone doing their laundry. Tape coins and a note to vending machines, take treats to the local fire or police stations; the ideas are endless! Limit 10 indiviuals; family-friendly.
