 What is Upward?
Upward is an
evangelistic
sports
ministry
specifically
designed for
four year olds
(as of September
1st) through
sixth grade boys
and girls where
emphasis is
placed on "Christlikeness"
and good
sportsmanship,
not
championships
and trophies.
Upward
basketball and
cheerleading
seek to
strengthen
children and
their families
by:
Maximizing the
family schedule by
having only one hour
of practice and one
game each week,
facilitating an
atmosphere of
sportsmanship by not
keeping leagues
standing in any
division, allowing
the coaches to focus
on
ministering,
instead of game
strategy, by having
a set substitution
system where all
players are allowed
equal playing time,
and by maximizing
ministry
opportunities by
exposing
participants to
Scripture-based
devotions during
each practice, and
exposing spectators
to halftime
devotions.

practices and

Wednesday
