Methodist Children’s Program
Welcome to Methodist Children's Program (MCP) at First United Methodist Church Pearland
Our Methodist Children’s Program (MCP) has been in operation for over 50 years and has grown to become a model for children’s ministry in our area. MCP is an extension of the educational ministry of First United Methodist Church (FUMC) Pearland.
The Methodist Children’s Program of First United Methodist Church Pearland was created and is designed to present quality Christian based instruction to young children 12 months old through Second Grade. MCP provides a warm, caring, safe, and nurturing environment that promotes the social, emotional, spiritual, physical, and cognitive development of young children. We are committed to providing a positive educational experience and to sharing Christ’s love in all that we do.
MCP Classrooms maintain a low student to teacher ratio, with two teachers per class. In addition to well-planned classroom schedules, students attend Chapel, Music, Science, Art, P.E. and Language Development classes to enrich their learning.

Program License/Accredidation
MCP is licensed by the Texas Department of Protective and Regulatory Services and governed by Cognia for Accreditation of our first and second grades. Its purpose is to provide a safe and nurturing environment that promotes the social, emotional, spiritual, physical and cognitive development of young children. Developmentally appropriate activities are carefully planned and provide opportunities for self-expression, freedom of choice, self-reliance, and individuality.
Teacher Training
Every teacher is required to participate in training designed specifically for Early Childhood Educators each year. Our teachers strive to maintain the highest quality of standards. We conduct a complete criminal background check, including FBI fingerprinting, on all staff members. CPR and First Aid certification are required for all staff members.
